THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Sunday, November 19, 2010.

Ruth Marie Thogerson, 92, of Huxley, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at Bethany Manor in Story City. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, at Stevens Memorial Chapel, 607 28th St., in Ames. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, at Fjeldberg Lutheran Church, 209 N. Second Ave., in Huxley. Memorial contributions can be made in her name to Fjeldberg Church.

Ruth was born Feb. 1, 1918, in Cedar Falls, to Albert and Petrea Matson. She graduated from Iowa State Teacher’s College. She married the Rev. Dolliver D. Thogerson June 30, 1938. Together they served Lutheran congregations in Edmore, Mich.; Cushing, Wis.; Falmouth, Maine; Derwood, Md.; and West Branch, West Burlington, rural Decorah and Huxley.

She is survived by three sons, David (Carolyn), of Ames, Paul (Sheryl), of Davis, Ill., and Mark, of Muskegon, Mich.; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Dick Matson; and one daughter, Dorothy Hansen
