THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, November 5, 2010.

Jens C. Larsen, 90, formerly of Gilbert, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010, in Florida. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 8, at Adams Funeral Home in Ames. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, at Gilbert Lutheran Church.

Jens was born Nov. 4, 1919, on a farm near U.S. Highway 69 and the Gilbert Corner. He married Pauline Christiansen June 15, 1943. He was a farmer and worked for the Iowa Department of Transportation. Jens was president of the Gilbert School Board for several years and a member of the Gilbert Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his son, Steven, of West Palm Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Todd Larsen, of Brush Creek, Tenn., Aaron Larsen, of Lake Worth, Fla., and Kara Epifano, of Jupiter, Fla.; and sister, Esther Meyer, of Bloomington, Minn.

He will be missed enormously and remembered for his love of life. We couldn’t have asked for a better dad and papa for our family. No matter how bad a situation, he saw the happy side of life. As he would say, “You betcha.”

We love you, Dad and Papa.

Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
