Michael Lee Smith, 51 of Nevada died on Sunday, October 24, 2010 at his residence in Nevada. A Celebration of Mike’s life will be held Saturday, November 6 from 2-4:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 1036 7th Street in Nevada.

Mike was born on September 18, 1959 in Des Moines to Richard Lee and Shirley Mae (Beard) Smith. He was a 1978 graduate of Nevada High School. On October 6, 1979, Mike married Brenda L. Taylor in Boone and she survives him. He was employed as a printing press operator at Graphic Forms in Nevada.

Mike is also survived by a son, Cole Smith of Ames; a daughter, Amber (Mike) Miller and their children Savannah and Brayden; his mother, Shirley Smith, a sister, Michelle Marie Smith Dodd and nephews Cooper and Spencer Dodd, all of Nevada; and many other relatives and friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Richard L. Smith on September 25, 2005 and a sister, Pamela on May 20, 1978.

Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada has been entrusted with the care of Mike and his family.
