Former Resident, Mrs. J.C. Bower, dies at Ames

Last week friends in Corydon [Iowa] received word of the death of Mrs. J.C. Bower, 94, one time resident of Corydon. Mrs. Bower died at the home of a daughter in Ames. Services were held there Sunday.

The Bower family came to Corydon in the 1890s an operated a book store here for about 35 years. The Boweres were very active in church and club affinity during their residence here, and the three children attended school in Corydon. The family moved to Perry from Corydon and later to Jefferson, where Mr. Bower died.

Mrs. Bower had since made her home with a daughter, Edna, who is an Ames school music instructor. Two sons also survive. Interment was in the Ames cemetery.
