Marjorie Ann Toot, 80 of Nevada died on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 12 at the Memorial Lutheran Church, in Nevada with Pastor Myron Herzberg officiating. Burial was held in the Murphy Cemetery in rural Nevada.
Marge was born on July 29, 1930 in Boone to Orville and Amanda (Knudson) Miller. She was a Boone High School graduate. On June 26, 1949, Marge married Charles (Charlie) Mark Toot in Boone. She was a homemaker. Marge was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church, ABWA, American Legion Auxiliary, IWBA and a 4-H Leader. She was indicted into the Hall of Fame for being the founder of Junior Bowling. Marge loved to volunteer especially Lincoln Highway Days and 4th of July activities.
Marge is survived by 3 grandchildren, Shane (Stephanie) Griffin of Nevada, Amanda Toot Zimmer (Andy) of Eaton, CO, and Stephanie Toot Kemp (Brett) of Ft. Collins, CO; 11 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Arnold “Bud” Miller of Bellevue, NE, Francis Miller of Nevada, and Danny Miller of Colorado Springs, CO.
Marge was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charlie Toot on November 15, 1997, her son Steve Toot on October 29, 2002, daughter Sherry Toot on July 14, 1963, and a brother, Carroll Miller.
Memorials may be directed in Marge’s name to the American Cancer Society or the Memorial Lutheran Church.
Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada was entrusted with the care of Marge and her family.
