Mrs. Beach, Wife Of Former Iowa State Man, Dies
Mrs. Norma Halner Beach, 72, wife of the late Spencer A. Beach, head of horticulture department at Iowa State college for many years, died suddenly Friday at her apartment in New Rochelle, N. Y. Mrs. Beach had been in good health until stricken suddenly.
Mr. and Mrs. Beach came to Ames in 1905 where Mr. Beach assumed his duties as head of the horticulture department. Mrs. Beach was a member of the class of 1887 of Iowa State college. Following the death of her husband in 1922 she moved from Ames. The couple during their stay on the campus made their home in what is now known at the Ellen H. Richards home management house.
The body of Mrs. Beach will be brot to Ames where services will be held from the Congregational church Monday.
Surviving are three sons, Frank of Columbus, O., Julius of Chicago, Ill., and Victor of New Rochelle, N. Y., and 12 grandchildren.
The body will be in charge of the Duckworth cemetery.
