W. H. McClain Drops Dead on Main St. Here
William H. McClain, 2825 Leek street, dropped dead of heart failure about 3:30 p. m., Wednesday while walking in front of the Brooker Drug store on the north side of Main street.
Dr. B. D. Atchley, city health officer, was called immediately and the body was taken to Duckworth's Funeral home.
McClain operated a popcorn stand in the campustown business district.

Services for W. H. McClain To Be Friday
Funeral services for William Hugh McClain, 69, who dropped dead on Main street Wednesday afternoon, will be held at 3:30 p. m., Friday from the Duckworth Funeral home. The Rev. Walter Barlow of the Collegiate Presbyterian church will be in charge of the services and burial will be in the Ames cemetery.
Mr. McClain, a resident of and near Ames for the past 33 years, had been in poor health for the past several years.
Born in Buena Vista county Aug. 26, 1867, Mr. McClain farmed near Ames for a number of years. When his health began to fail, he moved to Ames and for several years operated a pop corn stand on Lincoln way west of Lynn avenue.
Surviving him are his sister, Mrs. Margaret Van Patten and a cousin, Fred Stocker, both of Ames. Mr. McClain never married.
