James F. Dame, formerly of Nevada, died at his home in Des Moines late Monday night of last week. He was 64 years of age, a veteran of the civil war and a man of most kindly diposition. He had lived at Nevada for many years but removed to Des Moines about three years ago. His many friends here have learned of his death with much regret. He died of congestion of the brain. He leaves his wife, five daughters and one son.
James F. Dame, was a native of New Hamshire, born at Dover, that state, August 23, 1839. Shortly after his birth, his parents removed to Wisconsin. He wsa (sic) married at Spring Prarie, Wis., Aug. 17 1862, to Miss Isabel Pedler. Deceased has a long and honorable was record, having enlisted from Burlington, Wisconsin, August 11, 1862, mustered into U. S. service at Racine as a privated Co. H. 22nd Wis. Vol. Infantry. Was taken prisoner at Thompson's Station, Tenn., March 4 1863 and confined for a time in Libby Prison; was afterwards released and rejoined his regiment. Took part in all the important engagements participated in by the Army of the Cumberland, including Chickamauga, Resaca and Kenesaw Mountain; was wounded at the battle of Dallas, June 4 1864; was honorably discharges July 3, 1865 by reason of the close of war. After the was he located at Nevada. He wsa (sic) a member of Ferguson Post No. 31 G. A.. R.
