Obituary of Mrs. Oxley
Death of Well Known Wife and MotherElva Hoskins was born June ??, 1878, and departed this life Sept. ??, 1913, aged 35 years, 2 months, and 2 days. She was born and died on the old home place five miles south of Nevada, where she lived with her widowed mother. She was married to Lemuel H. Oxley July 3, 1898. Three sons were born to this union. Albert aged 14, Owen 13, and Orville 10 years of age. Her father, two sisters and two brothers preceded her.
After a long siege of patient suffering through the winter, Mrs. Oxley gained strength sufficient to be around her home again, as well as to vi (sit?) many of her neighbors and friends. She was, however, taken suddenly and severely ill again, and in spite of all that faithful and loving hands could do, it was realized she could not recover and after several hours at the last of intense suffering the end came. During her severe sickness early in the winter when it was thought she could not recover, family and friends had been summoned to her bed and exhorted to meet her in heaven. Throughout her life she was con(sist?)ently Christian. In a meeting of Holiness association in Des Moines, 1906 she had been converted, afterwards joining the United Evangelical church at Summit. She had left a personal testimony to a real faith in Christ as Savior of those who believe on him/
She leaves an aged mother who (in?) her death loses the last of five children; a husband and three children besides many relatives and friends.
