Margaret Elaine Sellers, formerly of Des Moines, died Monday, July 26, 2010, at her home in Fort Walton Beach, Fla. She was 90 years old. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines.

Margaret Elaine Sellers was born on March 30, 1920, in Garden City, Kan., to Harry and Erma Raymond. She attended Valley High School in West Des Moines where she met and married her high school sweetheart, William (Bill) Sellers in 1940.They had one son and two daughters.

She was an avid reader, loved to sew and had her own in-home beauty salon. Though a woman of many talents, she was most importantly a mother and grandmother. It was a job and her joy. She loved to sew and was especially known for her intricate dancing costumes, fashionable Easter outfits and lovely homemade wardrobes for her girls. She had a warm and beautiful smile with a mischievous twinkle in her eye.

In 1982, Bill and Margaret left Des Moines, retiring to Alamo, Texas, where she enjoyed playing bridge with friends. In 2006, Bill and Margaret moved to Fort Walton Beach, Fla.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Ferguson, of Fort Walton Beach, and Diane Wilson (Denny), of Ames; four grandchildren, Danny (Shana) Wilson, of Ames, Debi (Louis) Estrada, of Orlando, Fla., Ron (Lisa) Ferguson, of Slidell, La. ,and Ben (Stephanie) Ferguson, of Hobe Sound, Fla.; and one sister, Marge Ruble, of Minneapolis. She had nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William, a retired Des Moines police officer; an infant son (Ronnie); one brother; one sister; and her parents.

Margaret’s family is especially grateful to her daughter, Linda, who took such kind and competent care of her mother during her last years.

Memorials may be given to Covenant Hospice, Niceville, Fla.
