Marylin A. Looft, age 81, of Council Bluffs, passed away July 7, 2010, at Bethany Lutheran Home. Marylin was born October 19, 1928, in Story City, Iowa, to Henry and Thora Halleland Jacobson. Marylin was united in marriage to Robert D. Looft, March 19, 1948. To this union three daughters were born, Nanci, Salli and Diane.

Marylin was a soft, kind, consistent role modeling mother, and a devoted, well organized and supportive wife. She showed strong faith and freely volunteered at St. Paul Lutheran Church. She received her Associates Degree from IWCC in 1973 and completed a semester at UNO. She served on the Achievement Corporation and the friends of KIWR at Iowa Western. Her other achievements include, PEO, founder of the Marylin Jacobson Looft Endowed Scholarship Fund at IWCC, served Children's Square as a volunteer and board member, receiving their coveted Jason Award in 2006 for her service, Mercy Hospital Guild board and former President.

During her illness she was courageous and positive throughout, including birthing, cancer, GERD, Parkinson's and back surgery.

Marylin was preceded in death by her parents; and sons-in-law, Rod Jahn and Jim Harmon.

Survivors include husband of 62 years, Dr. Robert D. Looft; daughters, Nanci Jahn, of Orange City, Salli Harmon, Diane Machmuller and husband, Bob, all of Council Bluffs; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 13 at 10:30 a.m., at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Interment was at Ridgewood Cemetery followed by a luncheon back at the church. Memorials are suggested to Marylin Jacobson Looft En dowed Scholarship Fund at IWCC and St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
