Howard Heaberlin, 84, of Slater died July 20, 2010 after a long illness, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. No services are planned.

Howard William Heaberlin was born April 25, 1926 to Floyd and Clara (Atkins) Heaberlin. He grew up on a farm near Pleasantville. On April 13, 1948 he married Patsy Bubon. Howard farmed on the homestead and worked at Solar Aircraft after 7 years, and then worked at John Deere in Ankeny until he retired in 1989.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy, of Slater; 4 children, Bill, Toni, David and Pat; 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, 1 grandson and 1 great-grandson.

Soderstrum Riis is assisting the family with the arrangements.
