Donald DeLoss Appelgate, 94 of Nevada died on Friday, July 16, 2010 at Rolling Green Village in Nevada. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 22 at Chet Ryan Mortuary, 708 Fifth Street in Nevada. Burial will follow in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Donald was born on September 3, 1915 in rural Nevada to Vinton I. and Darmer (Jensen) Appelgate. He was a graduate of Shipley High School. On March 6, 1942, Donald married Frances Kingsbury in Nevada. Donald enjoyed traveling and was an avid reader. He was a recipient of a local radio station Volunteer Caregiver Award.

Donald is survived by his daughter, Vicki (Lynn) Christensen of Wilson, NC; 3 grandchildren, Ryan and Donald Christensen, Wendy (Allen) Watson; 3 great grandchildren; and his sister, Helen Robinson of Nevada.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Frances on November 29, 1997, a brother Claude; 2 sisters, Verda and Vivian.

A memorial fund has been established in Donald’s name.

Chet Ryan Mortuary has been entrusted with the care of Donald and his family.
