Erma Studley, 86, of Webster City, died Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services were May 29 at the Foster Chapel, with Rev. Doug Helton officiating. Burial was in the Graceland Cemetery.

Erma Jennie Luppes, daughter of Harme and Hilka Tapper Luppes, was born Aug. 20, 1923, at Kamrar. She attended Liberty No. 8 rural school and graduated from Lincoln High in Webster City in 1940. While in high school, she received normal training. She attended one year at Webster City Junior College. She taught in rural schools in Liberty Township and Union Township. On Sept. 10, 1944, she married Frederick George Studley at Marshalltown. Following his discharge from the U.S. Navy, the couple operated the family farm east of Webster City in Blairsburg Township. They also owned and operated a Century Farm south of Kamrar. In 1969, the couple moved to Webster City. They retired in 1988. Mr. Studley died Jan. 7, 2005.

Mrs. Studley is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Trudy and Butch Helton, of Webster City, Lorinda and Charles Inman, of Adel, Ileana and Fred Koerner, of Gainesville, Fla., and Violetta and Timothy Hall, Gwenna and Douglas Jacobson, all of Ames; sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy and Jeanne Studley, of Richardson, Texas, and Thomas and Vickie Studley, of Gainesville, Fla.; grandchildren, Tamara and John Doran, of Ankeny, Christopher Helton, of Ames, Melodi and Mark Fielder, of Webster City, Coralie and Kevin Voss, of Muscatine, Bradley and Cassie Inman, of Des Moines, Katharina Inman, of Phoenix, Ariz., Holly and Andy Cowx, of New Freedom, Pa., Jonathan Godown, of Orlando, Fla., David Hall, of West Des Moines, Nathan Hall, of Des Moines, Rachel Hall, Sarah, Jordan and Jessica Jacobson, all of Ames, Reid, Andrea and Brett Studley, of Richardson, Texas, and Megan, Eric and Jenna Studley, of Gainesville, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Haley, Brenden and Alec Doran, of Ankeny, Dylan and Drew Fielder, of Webster City, William and Elizabeth Cowx, of New Freedom, Pa., and Alyssa Santiago, of Orlando, Fla.; brother, Raymond Luppes, of Webster City; aunt, Etta Sherman, of Iowa Falls; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a brother in infancy; brother, Melroy Luppes; and sister, Eleanor Bernard.

She was a charter member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, a member of the Berachah Guild, and was involved with the Ladies Missionary Fellowship at Calvary Baptist. She was also a member of the Town and Country Garden Club, American Legion Auxiliary, and involved with RSVP and volunteered with Meals on Wheels and with the Hamilton Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed all of the many activities of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
