THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, June 11, 2010.

Jerry H. Wendt, 76, of Ames, formerly of Rockwell City, passed away Friday June 11, 2010, at Heartwood House in Ames. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 15, in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Rockwell City.

Jerry was born July 11, 1933, in Rockwell City, the son of Everett and Alice (Velma) Hall Wendt. He graduated from Rockwell City High School in 1951. He married Donna Joy Putnam June 14, 1953, in Rockwell City. Jerry worked as a lineman for Iowa Public Services for 36 years retiring in 1989. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cribbage and staying active with several different hobbies.

Jerry is survived by his daughter, Sue (Andrew) Kennedy, of Red Wing, Minn.; and son, Scott (Linda) Wendt, of Nevada; grandchildren, Lindsay and Abbey Joy Kennedy, of Red Wing, Minn., Jarrett Wendt, of Dubuque, Riley Wendt, USAF stationed in Germany, Isabel Wendt, of Ames, Grace and Kristina Wendt, of Nevada; sister, Janet (Bill) Anderson, of Rockwell City; and sister in-law, Marilyn Lanctot, of Clio, Mich.; and many other relatives and friends.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, and step father Vide Stringer and his wife Donna.
