Genevieve West, 83, of Ames, died Saturday, June 5, 2010. Services are pending at Stevens Memorial Chapel.

THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, June 8, 2010.

Genevieve Frances (McCoy) West, 83, of Boone, died Saturday, June 5, 2010, at the Evangelical Free Church Home in Boone. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 9, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames. Burial will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Genevieve West was born July 2, 1926, in Boone County, to Paul I. and Pansy McCoy. She graduated from Luther High School in 1945. She married James R. West on Oct. 5, 1946.

She lived most of her life in Boone and Story counties. She enjoyed music and dancing. She loved being a mother to a “bunch of kids.”

She is survived by three daughters, Janet Fisher, George Ann Cleaveland and Faye West; three sons, Raymond, James R. “Bob” and Larry West; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; three brothers, Edward, Paul and Lawrence McCoy; and one sister, Zita Bennet.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James R. West; son, Steven; and 10 brothers and sisters.
