THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, May 5, 2010.

Frances Dodds, 86, of Ames, died Monday, May 3, 2010, at Bethany Manor. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 7, at Gilbert Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Thomas Prochnow officiating. Inurnment will be in Northlawn Cemetery in Fort Dodge.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 6, at Gilbert Lutheran Church.

Frances was born Oct. 16, 1923, in Fort Dodge, to Paul and Sarah (Ferrell) Hair. She graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1942 and married Virgil Taylor Dec. 21, 1942, in Redding, Calif. He preceded her in death in July 1969. She married Bill Dodds Sept. 4, 1978, in Nashua. She worked as a receptionist in Webster City for 10 years. She enjoyed fishing, sewing and gardening.

She is survived by her husband, Bill, of Ames; two sons, Doug Taylor (Genia), of St. Charles, Mo., and Terry Taylor (Patty), of Huron, S.D.; one stepdaughter, Denise Tyler (Mark), of Ames; one brother, Allan Hair, of Fillmore Calif.; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Virgil; one sister, Laura Anderson; and twin brothers, Bob and Ray Hair.

Memorials may be made to Gilbert Lutheran Church.

Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
