THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, May 5, 2010.
Lenora Sayre, 90, of Madrid and formerly of Slater, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at Madrid Home. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday May 7, at Slater United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 8, also at Slater United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Slater City Cemetery.
Lenora was born March 20, 1920, in Colo, to Vern and Pearl (Hormel) Dolph. She grew up in Maxwell and Cambridge. She married Melvin Larson, and eight children were born to this union. Lenora and her family moved to Slater in 1950.
She is survived by her children, Mary Jane (Bruce) Cairns, Duane (Janet) Larson, Larry (Sandy) Larson, Jene (Chris) Paulsen, Pat (Dale) Dyvig, Phil (Jo Linda) Larson, and Steve (Louella) Larson; two sisters, Betty Olgle and Ila Ersland; one brother, Lester Dolph; one sister-in-law, Marvel Dolph; 24 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Melvin Larson, Linn Trimble and Elmer Sayre; and one son, Carroll.
Soderstrum Riis Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
