1 July 1909Octogenarian Passes to Rest
Aged Resident of Roland Dies After Several Months Sickness, Was Eighty-Two Years Old, Leaves Many Relatives
Knudt O. Teig died Tuesday morning from several months sickness at the home of his brother, Paul O. Teig and family at this place. The deceased was born in Sovde, near Stavanger, September 7, 1827 and was 81 years, 9 months and 22 days old at the time of his death. He was married in Norway to Miss Martha Oldsdatter Hereim in 1846, who died March 27, 1895 and is buried at this place. Seven children are left to mourn the loss of a kind father. They are Ole Teig, of Lakefield, Minn., Ole K. Teig, of Windom, Minn., K. K. Teig, of this place; Mrs. Annie Durby, of McCallsburg; Martin K. Teig, of Seattle, Wash.; Knudt K. Teig, of Alaska and Mrs. Gusta Olson, of Seattle, Wash. Besides his children, he leaves a sister, Mrs. Martha Teig, in Norway; and two brothers, Paul O. Teig, of this place, and John Teig, of Story City, and numerous other relatives and friends.
In 1881, he came to this country with his wife and has since lived in and near Roland.
The funeral was held from Bergen Church, of which he was an active member, on Wednesday afternoon, Rev. G. Smedal officiating. A very large number of people attended the funeral services, the church being filled to the utmost. Interment took place in the Roland cemetery. The sorrowing families are extended the sincere sympathy of their numerous friends in the hour of their bereavement.
