Dies Suddenly from Appendicitis at Winnipeg, Canada While on Way Back to Iowa
A. L. Anderson received a message last Thursday morning stating that his brother, Carl Anderson was very sick with appendicitis at Winnipeg Canada and so he left at once, but Friday morning the Anderson family received another message conveying the sad news that Mr. Anderson had passed away the previous day.
Mr. Anderson left here a year ago last spring for Canada where he took a homestead. A few weeks ago he was taken sick but soon got better so he decided to come back here to have an operation for appendicitis performed, but when he got as far as Winnipeg he was forced to go to a hospital where after three days an operation was performed. But five days after the operation he died, on Thursday October 15, 1908, alone in a strange country. His brother A. L. Anderson reached there after he had passed away and brought the remains here Monday.
Carl Anderson was born on a farm west of Roland on January 2, 1885, and was 23 years, 9 months and 13 days old at the time of his death. He leaves two brothers, A.L . of this place and John E. Anderson of Luverne, Minn., besides numerous friends to mourn his untimely death.
The funeral was held at Bergen church on Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Smedal officiating after which interment took place at the Roland cemetery where he was laid to rest beside his parents who have gone before him. The sorrowing have the sympathy of a large circle of neighbors and friends in the hour of their bereavement.
