Obituary for LILLIAN VIRGINIA BOCKHOPBOCKHOP
Virginia Bockhop, age 90, passed away on March 31, 2010 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Virginia was raised in Atlanta, Georgia with her two sisters, Mildred and Miriam, and her brother Charlie. Virginia eventually moved to Dallas, where she met and married her husband Clarence Bockhop, whom she affectionately called “Bock”. After the birth of their second child, Clarence and Virginia moved their family to Ames, Iowa, where Bock pursued a graduate degree at Iowa State University. Ames and Iowa State became their home and the place where they raised their family. One of Virginia’s greatest passions was traveling, and she did so extensively. She had the opportunity to spend a year in West Africa with her family, and later seven years in the Philippines with her husband. Even after Bock and Virginia finally moved back to Texas, Virginia never lost her sense of adventure and continued to travel throughout Europe and Asia. Her greatest gift was the love, humor, and care she gave to her family. Virginia considered herself blessed and truly was a blessing to us all. She will be remembered as a loving sister, wife, mother, and friend. She is preceded in death by Charles Bulman and Mildred.
She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Rutherford and Dr. Clyde of Corpus Christi, Texas, Barbara Bockhop and Luis Moreiro of Sevelle, Spain; sons, Bryan Bockhop and Katy of Snellville, GA., Karl Bockhop and Connie of Milpitas, CA.; sister Miriam Creech of Atlanta, GA.; and 10 grandchildren.
A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at Seaside Memorial Park.
Friends and family can gather at First Christian Church on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. to celebrate her life.
