LOCAL YOUNG MAN IS DEAD

GEORGE SJURSON PASSED AWAY AT HOME OF PARENTS SATURDAY

George Sjurson died early Saturday morning at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Severt Sjurson. he had not been well since he was injured in an accident while riding a motorcycle last May. He took ill with flu-pneumonia last week which affect his heart and he died Saturday after a few days illness.

He was born May 25, 1913, and died January 14, 1933, at the age of 19 years, 7 months and 19 days.

He attended the local high school and was graduated with the class of 1931 and the following year he attended Iowa State College at Ames. He did not enroll again last fall on account of his health, but remained at home.

He is survived by his parents, a sister, Agnes, and two brothers, John of Ames, and Clarence, who is serving an enlistment in the U. S. Navy. The latter was unable to come home for the funeral as his ship is leaving San Diego, Cal., Friday this week for Honolulu.

The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at the Sjurson home and at Bergen Lutheran church, which was filled to overflowing. Interment was made in the Roland cemetery. The pastor, Rev. M. O. Sumstad, officiated, and Rev. F. F. Stover, pastor of the Federated Church at Jewell, also spoke. Rev. Stover made his home with the Sjurson family when he taught parochial school in the community thirty years ago.

Pall bearers were Earl Ritland, Obed Norem, Amos Cole, Bert Ritland, Harold Ritland and Floyd Omundson. The class of 1931, R. H. S., were honorary pall bearers and also presented a donation to the Roland Week Day School of Religion as a memorial to the departed member. Close friends of the deceased gave a sum of money to missions in his memory and others presented floral offerings. Musical numbers were a song by the girls sextet, a solo by Otto J. Hanson, and a song by the boys quartet composed of William Larson, Noel Jondall, Walter Peterson and Floyd Omunson.
