NEVADA – Beverly Jean Oregon, 81, of Nevada, died Friday, March 12, 2010 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.
Beverly was born July 27, 1928 at Kiron, Iowa, the daughter of Vern “White” and Alice May Waggoner Boerner. She graduated from Odebolt High School in 1941 and attended Business College in Sioux City for one year. She was united in marriage to Darrell Oregon on June 19, 1948 in Sioux City. Darrell preceded Beverly in death on July 5, 1981. Beverly and Darrell owned Oregon’s Dry Goods in Winfield for many years before moving to Story County. They then had the Sportsman’s Lounge in Ames for many years and she also worked at RH Donnelley’s in Nevada. Beverly then managed the Casey’s General Store in Roland for many years. Beverly was a member of the Nevada First Christian (Disciples of Christ) Church, the McCallsburg American Legion Auxiliary, and was a former 4-H Leader. Beverly loved to bowl, fish, enjoyed flower gardening, decorating at the Regency, and watching birds through her living room window.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law: Vickie and Craig Krueger of Nevada, Iowa, Pamela Flynn of Cedar Park, Texas; four grandchildren: Aaron Krueger, Stephanie Krueger, Monica Flynn, Kyla Flynn; and a brother: Douglas Boerner of Sac City, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Darrell.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada, Iowa with Pastor Scott Jones officiating. Interment was in the Roland Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Beverly Oregon Memorial Fund.
Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory handled the arrangements.
