Ione Helen Myers, 79 of Nevada died on Thursday, March 11 at the Story County Senior Care. Funeral Services were held Saturday, March 13 at the Memorial Lutheran Church, 701 11th Street in Nevada with Pastor Myron D. Herzberg officiating. Burial followed in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Ione was born on April 3, 1930 in McCallsburg to Martin and Ora (Anfinson) Tjelmeland. She was a 1948 graduate of McCallsburg High School. On June 1, 1948, Ione married William H. “Bill” Myers at the Bethany Lutheran Church in McCallsburg. She was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church. Ione enjoyed playing bridge, baking, watching sports, camping, and being with her grandchildren.

Ione is survived by 2 sons, Larry E. (Crystal) Myers of Nevada and Dennis W. (Nancy) Myers of Marshalltown; 3 daughters, Karen (Craig) Wilcox, Diane (Dave) Gibbs, all of Brooklyn and LuAnn (Dan) Volk of Grinnell; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Clifford Tjelmeland of Marshalltown, Kenneth Tjelmeland of Augusta, Maine, and Lester Tjelmeland of Yorba Linda, CA; a sister, Bev Shalley of Mesa, AZ.

Ione was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bill on November 6, 1994; a sister Arlet, and 3 brothers, Eugene, Harlan, and Myron Tjelmeland.

A memorial fund has been established in Ione’s name.

Chet Ryan Mortuary was entrusted with Ione and her family.
