Verna Marie (McKean) Sigler, daughter of Edwin L. and Mary Alice (Buckholder)McKean, passed away
Feb. 23, and her services were held at the First Presbyterian Church in Jefferson, Iowa on Friday, the 26th of February, 2010.Verna was born on July 31, 1922, in Maple Hill, Emmet County, Iowa. She graduated in 1940 from Swan Lake Consolidated School in Maple Hill. Verna furthered her education at Cosmetology Trade School, located in Sioux City, Iowa and was licensed in 1941. She married Richard Lile in 1942 and had one son. Verna then married Neal Sigler in 1950, and to this union was born four more sons. They traveled throughout the Midwest and West Coast before settling in Jefferson, Iowa. Verna was an active member in her church, participating in Sunday school, Bible study and Christ's Kids. She was a member of the Jefferson Garden Club, as Verna was a wonderful gardener and very particular about her own gardens. Verna enjoyed playing and watching girls' basketball. She also enjoyed spending time with her sons, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Verna is survived by sons, Richard Leroy (Carol) Lile of Salt Lake City, UT; Timothy Earl Sigler of Nevada; and Daryl Kim Sigler of Jefferson; 9 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a sister, Virginia McKean of Minnesota; and sister-in-law, LaVerne Henning.
Verna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Neal in September of 1987; 2 sons, Ronald Dee and Gary Craig; and 2 brothers, Roy and Lloyd McKean.
