Sudden Deaths
We have two sudden deaths to report this week, which have occurred in the county within the last few days.
The first is that of Miss Loretta McConnell, daughter of Alex. McConnell of Indian Creek township. Miss McConnell was not quite 21 years of age, was born and raised in this county, was an amiable, intelligent and handsome yound lady with a bright future. She was always considered an unusually healthy person, never having been afflicted with so much as a headache. The circumstances of her death, as near as we can learn, were as follows: She had been to Peoria City Saturday forenoon, and returned in her usual good health. About 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon, while attempting to go from the sewing machine upon which she had been working, to the table, she fell to the floor in a spasm. An old gentleman, Mr. M. B. Rush, was the only person in the room at the time. He immediately attempted to render what assistance he could, as also did a younger sister who was in an adjoining room. She soon came out of the spasm, called for water and to have head raised, and said she was dying. She had two other spasms and died while in the last, it being within half an hour from her first attack. Her mother was at a neighbors aiding in caring for the sick and did not return until after her death. A coroner's inquest was held on Sunday afternoon and a postmortem examination about six o'clock, which determined the fact that her death was caused by heart trouble, the bursting of the left ventricle. She will be greatly missed by her many friends of Indian Creek township.
