Marlene H. Stemler, 78 of Ames, formerly of Nevada, died on Sunday, January 24 with her daughters by her side at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Being respectful of Marlene’s wishes, a private memorial graveside service will be held in the spring at the Evergreen Memory Gardens in rural Nevada.
Marlene was born on August 9, 1931 in Geneva, Iowa to Hugh and Anna (Miller) Craig. On September 15, 1948, she married William LeRoy Stemler in Nevada. Marlene was co-owner of the Stemler Milling and Mixing Co. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Nevada.
Marlene is survived by 2 daughters, Susan (Gail) Willson of Danville, CA and Linda Stemler (Rosemary Scott) of Ames; 2 grandchildren, Andrew (Maria) Willson of Westchester, CA and Lee Willson of Long Beach, CA; and a sister, Mildred Beach of Colo.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, LeRoy in 2003, her son, Craig in 1975, and a niece.
Chet Ryan Mortuary and Cremation Services has been entrusted with Marlene and her family.
