Bonnie L. Satre, 77, of Story City, passed away Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010 at ,Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 11 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City. Burial was in the Story City Municipal Cemetery. There was a visitation of family and friends on Sunday, Jan. 10 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the fellowship hall at St. Petri.

Bonnie was born Jan. 27, 1932 to Thomas and Lillian (Jensen) Olson in Jackson, Minnesota. She graduated Mankato Teachers College and taught for nine years. Bonnie married John Satre June 21, 1959. They were owners/operators of Johns 1-35 Restaurant from 1973 to 1990 in Story City. She also worked at Cornerstone Giftshop in Story City for many years. Bonnie was a member of St. Petri Lutheran Church, where she was very active. She enjoyed reading all kinds of literature, puzzles, and, of course, her grandchildren and great grandchild.

Survivors include her husband John of Story City; daughters, Ann (Mike) Healy of Story City and Sharon (Doug) Mackey of Huxley; son, Tom (Cheri) Satre of Sauk Rapids, Minnesota; one brother, Verl on (Marlis) Olson of Colorado Springs; one sister Dorothy (Paul) Metli of Crescent Bay, Washington; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Tom Olson and Marvin Olson; and three sisters, Gladys Johnson, Lavonne Williams and Evelyn Roberts and stepfather Richard Neuman.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers memorial gifts be designated to Israel Family Hospice House or St. Petri Lutheran Church.
Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City had been entrusted with the arrangements.
