THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, January 14, 2010.

Georgine E. Tweten, 78, of Story City, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, at Riverside Manor in Ames. She was under the care of Wesley Community Hospice and the staff at Riverside Manor due to complications of Alzheimer’s disease. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1532 Prairie Drive, in Story City. Burial will be in the Story City Cemetery. A simple meal will be provided at the church for family and friends of the family following the burial on Monday.

Visitation of family and friends will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, at Soderstrum Funeral Home, 618 Lafayette, in Story City.

Georgine was born Jan. 4, 1932, in Detroit, Mich., to Selmer M. and Madge L. (Moore) Tweten. She never married but took great pride in her family which included many nieces and nephews and their children. She always helped with much nurturing and support of all her family members in all ways possible.

Georgine graduated from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. She taught school in Sacramento and Los Angeles, Calif., during her teaching career. Later in life she joined her twin sisters, Margaret and Marlene, in Iowa and worked in a family business with them. She worked at Woodward State Hospital Schools as a resident treatment worker for nearly 20 years before retiring.

She is survived by her sister, Margaret (Jim) Hendrian, of Story City; and her brother, David (Rita) Tweten, of Covina, Calif. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their children as well.

Georgine was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Phyllis, Marion, Joyce and Marlene; and an infant brother, Dwayne.

Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City is assisting the family with arrangements.
