THE TRI-COUNTY TIMES, Story County, Iowa, Friday, January 8, 2010.

Mildred Jeanette Reinertson, 97, passed away January 1, 2010 at Israel Family Hospice House. Services were held Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Slater with Rev. Heidi Williams officiating. Visitation was Monday, January 4, 2010 at Soderstrum Riis Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Bethlehem Cemetery.

Mildred (“Mimmie”) was born September 26, 1912 on the family farm near Huxley, Iowa as the fourth child to John and Julia (Rullestad) Freeland. She married Herbert Reinertson on December 18, 1941 in Papillion, Nebraska. The couple farmed until their retirement in 1986. They enjoyed family fishing trips to Minnesota, winter vacations in Texas and Arizona and fall fishing trips to Ontario, Canada. In 1988, Mildred and Herb traveled to Norway with other family members, fulfilling their dream to visit the homeland of their parents and grandparents.

Mildred is survived by her four children, Mary Jo (Larry) Lein of Kansas City, MO; Dennis (Kathy) Reinertson of Indianola; Lori (Brian) Carrel of Boone; and Carol (David) Schonhorst of Johnston. She also leaves one sister, Thelma Danilson of Boone, ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert in 1993, two granddaughters, two brothers, and five sisters.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Building Fund in Slater, Iowa or Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.
