THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, November 13, 2009.

Lois Michaelson, 89, of Jewell, died Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at the Valley View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Eldora. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Sunday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Bethesda Lutheran Church, Montgomery Memorial Library, or Jewell Fire and Rescue.

Lois Marie Twedt was born July 30, 1920, in Roland, to Leonard and Mamie (Jacobson) Twedt. She graduated from Roland High School in 1938. On April 25, 1940, Lois married Jerry Michaelson in Hawarden. They lived in Jewell for many years. They helped Jerry’s mother at the Jack Spratt Penny Saver Store. Lois also worked at Paul’s and at the Iowa Electric Light and Power office in Jewell. She was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Jewell where she served as Sunday school treasurer. Lois was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She and Jerry were charter members of the Jewell Golf and Country Club, where they loved to golf.

Lois is survived by her daughter, Jerilynn (Gary) Klaver, of Ames; a son, James (Sonjia) Michaelson, of Eldora; five grandchildren, Jay (Julie) Klaver, Tom Klaver, Heather (Rick) McKinley, Greg (Tammy) Michaelson, and Holly (Dave) Standke; 11 great-grandchildren, Hayden, Will, Ryan, Kylie, Thomas, Hannah, Elizabeth, Jacob, Daniel, Emily and Luke; a brother, David (Mary) Twedt, of Altoona; and a niece, Kathryn (Dave) McClelland, of Altoona.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerry in 2000; a sister, Ione Twedt; and an infant brother and sister, Stanley and Verna Twedt.

Becker Funeral and Cremation Service of Jewell is entrusted with arrangements.
