NEVADA — Carol Sue Cacek, 55, of Nevada, Iowa died Monday, October 19, 2009 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 AM Saturday at the Nevada Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Friday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. Memorials may be made to the Nevada Baptist Church or the William R. Bliss Cancer Center in Ames.

Carol was born January 15, 1954 in Eldora, Iowa, the daughter of Glen and Lois (Handeland) Brandt. Carol was united in marriage to Philip Cacek on June 9, 1984 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She graduated from Nevada High School in 1972. Carol had worked in computer operations for both RH Donnelley Marketing from 1974 to 1997 and 1997 to 2009 at ITS Inc. (Shazam). Carol was a member of the Nevada Baptist Church. Carol loved her family very much. She enjoyed serving in her church and providing goodies for her friends and co-workers. She enjoyed sports, but in spite of her family’s many efforts, she never caught the fishing bug. Carol really loved God’s creation, but she especially enjoyed blue oceans and sandy beaches.

Carol is survived by her husband, Phil, of Nevada, IA; two sons: Joshua (Andrea) Blythe of Ames, IA, Nicholas Cacek of Ames, IA; one grandson: Anthony Philip Blythe; and a sister: Linda (Jim) Haberer of Ogden, IA.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; a son: Nathan Blythe; and a brother: Michael Brandt.

The Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory is handling arrangements.
