THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, October 20, 2009.
Duane Edward “Ed” Kamp, 65, of Nevada, died Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, at Christian Church in Maxwell. Burial will be in Cambridge Cemetery with military honors.
Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada.
Ed was born April 7, 1944, in Postville, the son of Duane William and Eunice (Kugel) Kamp. He graduated from high school in 1962 and earned a degree from Iowa State University. He served with the U.S. Air Force during the early Vietnam era. He was married to Wanda Meyer. He was a commercial electrician.
He “just had a good attitude” and was full of energy and ideas. He believed everything had value.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda, of Shipley; three sons, Michael (Jean) Kamp, of Cambridge, Donald (Jennifer) Kamp, of Chula, Mo., and John (Sandra) Kamp, of Cambridge; one daughter, Cindy (Kim) Gorden, of Shipley; 10 grandchildren; three brothers, Tom Kamp, of Knoxville, Daryl Kamp, of Epworth, and Randy Kamp, of Mitchell; and one sister, Janice Pearson, of Knoxville.
Memorials may be given to Israel Family Hospice House and Maxwell Christian Church.
Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
