Donald Anthony Schulte, 75, of Ames, died Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. A visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 19, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ames. Burial will be in Nevada Municipal Cemetery.
Donald Schulte was born Nov. 6, 1933, in Lake City to Ralph and Edith Schulte. He married Wandaleen Twedt on Oct. 23, 1964.
He was a salesman most of his life, working for companies such as Jewel and Farner-Bocken. In retirement, he worked at the VF mall in Story City for a few years.
He enjoyed time with his family, fishing and traveling. He was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Wandaleen Schulte, his two daughters, Pamela (Bryan) Ray and Dawn Renee Schulte; one son, Ralph (Sandra) Schulte; six grandchildren, Amanda (Adam) Parton, Sheila Kendall, Stephanie (Jayme) Kramer, Adam (Courtney) Schulte, Amber Kendall, and Melinda Schulte; 11 great grandchildren; one brother, Robert Schulte; one sister, Lucille (Paul) Wacker; one sister-in-law, Rosalie Schulte; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Gilbert Schulte.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Israel Family Hospice House.
