THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Sunday, October 4, 2009.

Maxine Sande, 92, of Story City, died Oct. 3, 2009, at Bethany Manor in Story City.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, at Salem Lutheran Church in Roland. Burial will be in Roland Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City. Memorials maybe made to Salem Lutheran Church or the donor’s choice.

Maxine Sande, daughter of Mandus and Agnes (Birkeland) Rod, was born March 25, 1917, on a farm west of Roland. She graduated from Roland High School in 1935 and married Raymond Sande on March 25, 1938. They lived on a farm west of Roland, and she continued to live there until 2007.

She is survived by her six children, Gary (Deanna) of St. Paul, Minn., Rosemary (Dave) Hilton of Webster City, Judy (Carroll) Tungesvik of Boone, Kathy (Dave) Quam of Story City, Dennis (Diane) of Charles City, and Debbie of Clarinda; 17 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one sister, Lois Johnson.
