THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, September 29, 2009.

Robert Arlan LaGrange, 77, a lifelong Ames resident, died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Committal of his cremated human remains will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, in Garden of Memories section at Ames Municipal Cemetery, followed by an 11 a.m. celebration of life memorial service at Memorial Lutheran Church in Ames.

Robert was born June 25, 1932, in Ames, the son of DeForest D. and Josephine (Haleen) LaGrange. He graduated from Ames High School and then went to Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, Mo., before entering the U.S. Army. On April 8, 1967, he married Jeanette Peterson in Ames. He started in the insurance business with his father with the Washington National Company and retired with Interstate Assurance Company in Des Moines. He was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church and enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanette, and one son, Darren D., both of Ames; and one daughter, Laura (Matt) Miller, and two grandchildren, Brytni and Mackenzie, all of Nevada.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Memorial Lutheran Church in Ames.
