Hildred Marie Osborn, 83, of Des Moines died Sunday, August 30, 2009 at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. A private family graveside was held September 2, 2009 at Merle Hay Funeral Home at Chapel Hill Gardens.

She was born on November 10, 1925 to John and Ann (Dittmer) Seuferer in rural Lacona, IA; the youngest of 11 children. She married Joseph Osborn on November 3, 1944 in Pine Camp, NY and years later they divorced. She was a homemaker and after her children were grown, she worked several years as a cook at Iowa State University. She did volunteer work at Our Lady of Prairies at Power Lake, ND and enjoyed crocheting, especially making angels.

Surviving are her children: Joseph Jr. (Sandy) Osborn of Ellsworth, David (LaDonna) Osborn of Boone, Vera (Larry) Markey of Franklin, WI, Verna Rice of Altoona, Mickey (Mary) Osborn of Cambridge, Lowell (Mary Newberg) Osborn of Montezuma, and Velma (Jim) Vessels of Mesquite, TX; 11 grandchildren: Darlene (Mark) Rockenbach of Seward, NE, Douglas Osborn of Boone, Jill (Gary) Hahn of Omaha, NE, Holli (Doug) Wilson of Valparaiso, IN, Geoffrey Rice of Altoona, Cori (Phil) Richards of Bettendorf, Crystal (Jason) Bucknell of Ionia, Michelle Osborn and fiancé, Rob Graham of Ames, Brandon (Brianne) Osborn of Roland, Angelique (Adam) VanderLinden of Robbinsdale, MN and Laci Newberg of Montezuma; 18 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lorraine Johnson of Norwalk.

Preceding her in death were her parents, a son and daughter (twins) Danny Joseph and Jean Marie; brothers: Gervase, Samos, Nilus, Giles, Richard and Floyd Seuferer; and sisters: Iona Ohnemus, Gladys Dittmer, and Beatrice Osborn.

She will be greatly missed. Memorial contributions may be made in remembrance of Hildred to Our Lady of the Americas Catholic Church (Visitation) or to Mercy Hospice.
