Floyd “Fritz” Erickson, 79, of Huxley, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Services are pending with Soderstrum-Riis Funeral Home in Slater.

Floyd “Fritz” H. Erickson, 79, of Huxley, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 24, at Fjeldberg Lutheran Church in Huxley. Inurnment will be Warren Township Cemetery in McCallsburg.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, at Fjeldberg Lutheran Church in Huxley.
Fritz was born Dec. 31, 1929, in McCallsburg, to Fred and Hazel (Larson) Erickson. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. Fritz married Bonita “Bonny” Erickson July 3, 1951. He and Bonny owned and operated the Fjord in Huxley from 1966 to 1988, and he drove a school bus for Ballard for more than 50 years.
Fritz was a member of Fjeldberg Lutheran Church, McCallsburg American Legion and was a volunteer fireman. He enjoyed mowing, pushing snow and his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Bonny, of Huxley; three sons, Tim (Sue), of Slater, Mark (Sharyn), of Huxley, and Mike, of Dallas, Texas; a daughter, Lisa Kling, of Huxley; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Fritz was preceded in death by his parents and a son-in-law, Roger Kling.
Memorials may be made to the church.
Soderstrum-Riis Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
