OBITUARY

Mrs Sarah Jackson was born on May 25th 1831, at Cottingham, near Hull, in Yorkshire, England, and died on March 17, 1902 at the home of Wm. Pritchard, three miles southwest of Collins, Iowa.

Her maiden name was Turnner.(sic) In 1856, she married Stephen Stanforth*. To them were born two choldren, a son and a daughter. The son, Henry Stanforth now lives in Linnville, Morgan Co., Ill. The daughter, Grace Stanforth remained in England.

On Aug 19, 18?5 she married in England, Mr. Arhur Jackson, Sr., who is now her bereaved companion. No children were born to this union Arthur Jackson, Jr., Henry Jackson and Mrs. Maggie Botheras being Mr. Jackson's children by a former marriage.

In 1881, she with her family, came to the United States and settled in Morgan Co., Ill. Two years later they came to Iowa and settled four miles southwest of Collins, where they had lived until recently. She was expecting to go with her husband in a few weeks, to join the balance of the family in their new home near Olds, Alberta, Canada.

Sister Jackson was Converted about forty years ago and united with the Wesleyan Methodist church. Upon coming to this country she joined the M.E. church and remained a member thereof until her death. She had been an invald for years and about five weeks ago suffered a partial stroke of paralysis from which she never rallied. She became much worse during the electrical storm on last Saturday morning and rapidly failed, until death gave her release at nine o'clock Monday morning.

Sister Jackson had lived a pure Christian life and passed away to be in blessed rest.

The funeral was conducted in Collins M.E. church by the pastor on Wednesday March 19th at 2 p.m., and the body laid to rest in the Collins cemetery. A multitude of friends sympathize with the bereft husband and family.
