THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, July 22, 2009.
Jackie “Jack” D. Bendickson Sr., 65, of Garden City, died Monday, July 20, 2009, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. His body has been cremated. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, July 24, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames.
Jackie Bendickson was born July 5, 1944, in Mason City, to Maynard and Lorraine (Ayres) Bendickson. He married Karen Keeney Sept. 15, 1964, at First Methodist Church in Mason City.
He worked with drywall and was employed at Mary Greeley Medical Center as a painter for 15 years. He enjoyed boating, water skiing and working on projects in his garage.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Bendickson, of Garden City; one son, Jackie Dean (Stacey) Bendickson Jr., of Nashua; two daughters, Tricia (Lynn) Hansen, of Brookings, S.D., and Sherry Bendickson, of Ames; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his mother, Lorraine Sigel, of Topeka, Kan.; two brothers, Bob (Sharon) Bendickson, of Lawrence, Kan., and Mike Bendickson, of Topeka, Kan.; one sister, Diane Adams, of Topeka, Kan.; and one sister-in-law, Wilma Bendickson.
He was preceded in death by his father; one brother, Jerry; and one sister, Linda Pierce.
