THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, July 14, 2009.
John C. Stahr, 48, of Ogden, died suddenly Saturday, July 11, 2009, at Boone County Hospital. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 17, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Ogden. Father Steve Brodersen will officiate. Burial will be in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Ogden.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with a rosary at 7 p.m., Thursday, July 16, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Ogden. Carson-Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden is in charge of the arrangements.
John Conrad Stahr was born Feb. 2, 1961, in Wilmington, N.C., the son of Mike and Irene (Sondey) Stahr. He graduated with the Ogden High School class of 1979. Following his education, he worked at Ahrens Service Station in Ogden and later at Pat Clemens in Boone. He married Patricia Smith June 3, 1989, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Ogden. The couple made their home in Boone before moving to Ogden in February 1993. He was employed by Carney and Sons Inc. in Ames, where he had worked for more than 13 years.
He belonged to St. John’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. His hobbies included racing and fishing. He was an avid John Force fan. He enjoyed helping others, especially taking care of his family. John’s dog, Bear, was his faithful companion and always could be found at his side.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Stahr, son, Kristopher Stahr and daughter, Katie Stahr, all of Ogden; his parents, Mike and Irene Stahr, of Ogden; three brothers, Mike (Julie) Stahr, of Boone, Pat (Mindy) Stahr, of Ames, and Matt (Chris) Stahr, of Johnston; one sister, Mary Kuil, of Ogden; numerous nieces and nephews; father and mother-in-law, Ron and Karen Smith, of Boone; and two sisters-in-law, Rhonda (Richard “Buck”) Johnson, of Boone, and Penny Smith, of Boone.
He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Gordie Kuil.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
