THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Saturday, July 11, 2009.

Allan James Osmundson, 81, Story City, died July 10 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, at Elim Lutheran Church, Randall. Burial will be in the Mamrelund Cemetery near Randall.

Allan was born March 30, 1928, to Amos and Alvina (Braland) Osmundson. Allan was baptized and confirmed at Bergen Lutheran Church in Roland. On March 12, 1949, he married Phyllis Jean Jacobson at Elim Lutheran Church in Randall, Iowa. Together they farmed near Randall for 60 years.

Allan enjoyed attending the Iowa State Fair and his toy tractor collection. He also had a strong passion for horses and spent many years raising them and attending horse shows.

Allan is survived by his wife, Phyllis; his son, Keith (Kathy), Radcliffe, daughter, Diane (Bill) Nelson, Shannon, Ill., Steve (Angela), Fort Worth, Texas, and a sister, Marjean (Richard) Parriott of Lebanon, Tenn. He is also survived by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a nephew and a niece. Soderstrum Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
