THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, July 9, 2009.

Marly J. Olson, 54, of Nevada, died Monday, July 6, 2009, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 11, at Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. Burial will be in McCallsburg Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 10, at Bacon Funeral Home.

Marly was born June 16, 1955, in Eldora, the son of Maynard and Vivian (Johnson) Olson. He served in the U.S. Army and worked in concrete construction for Stenberg Construction. He married Fay Clapp Sept. 29, 1978, in Ames. He loved stock cars, auto racing and Vikings football, but most of all, he loved his family.

He is survived by his wife, Fay, of Nevada; two sons and daughters-in-law, Rick (Karen) Brown, of Ankeny, and Justin (Rachel) Olson, of Nevada; two daughters and one son-in-law, Tammy (Patrick) Doyle, of Ames and Kim Olson (and her fiancé, Aaron Brown), of Ames; five grandchildren, Lauren Doyle, Jordan Doyle, Jaylynn Olson, Landon Brown and Hunter Brown; three brothers, Vail Olson, Vincent Olson and Mondell Olson, all of Nevada; and two sisters, Valerie Klein and Marcia Tendall, both of Nevada.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Maynard Olson Jr.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Marly Olson Memorial Fund.
