THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, June 25, 2009.

Josephine Wilson Hicks died Sunday, June 21, 2009, less than a month after celebrating her 90th birthday with family at her beloved lake cabin. A memorial service will be at 8 a.m. Sunday, June 28, at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, 1895 Laurel Avenue at Howell, in St. Paul, Minn. A second service will be Friday, July 10, also at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church.

Josephine was born in 1919 in Nebraska. She graduated from Iowa State College in 1941, then married Ellis Hicks in 1946. They lived all their married life of 53 years in Ames, where she was an active Episcopalian, volunteer, bridge player and mother of a daughter born in 1951. After Ellis’ retirement, they owned and operated Joselle’s Antiques together for 23 years.

She is survived by one daughter, Jane Hicks Carter (Chuck); two grandsons, Andy and Ian; one great-grandson, Jackson; one nephew, George Wilson; and many great-nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; her husband; and one niece.

Memorials preferred to the church.

Bradshaw Funeral Home of St. Paul, Minn., is assisting with arrangements.
