THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, June 23, 2009.

Glen Jordan Groomes, 78, formerly of Nevada, died Friday, June 19, 2009, at Polk City Nursing and Rehabilitation. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 27, at Chet Ryan Mortuary, 708 Fifth St., in Nevada, with Pastor David R. Burling officiating. Private cremain interment will be in Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Glen was born Nov. 21, 1930, in Iowa Falls, to Glen and Velma (Jordan) Groomes.

He is survived by his daughter, Denice Groomes, of Nevada; two sons, Steve (Sandi) Groomes, of St. Clair, Mo., and Brent Groomes, of Cedar Falls; one daughter-in-law, Joni (Liston) Grosso, of Charlotte, N.C.;one sister, Nancy (Don) McLean, of Ames; nine grandchildren, D. J. Bylund, Michelle Wall, Jennifer Meyer, Ryan Groomes, Jordan Groomes, Matt Groomes, Andy Groomes, Rob Groomes and K.C. Groomes; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Kevin; and one sister, Garnette.

Memorials may be directed in Glen’s memory to Iowa Hospice or Nevada High School Athletic Department.
