Mary A. Hermanson, 94, of Story City, died May 24, 2009 at Bethany Manor in Story City. Funeral services were held Friday, May 29, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Petri Lutheran Church. Burial followed in the Story City Cemetery.

Mary was born June 15, 1914 in Dubuque to Leighton and Cora Lea (Taylor) Terrill. She graduated from Grant High School in Cedar Rapids in 1932. She married Theodore Hermanson on May 1, 1938. He died October 30, 1994. She was a member of St. Petri Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School. Mary was active in a neighborhood Bible Study and also a Bible Study at Bethel Church. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and was famous for her cinnamon rolls.

She is survived by three sons, Walter (Barb) Hermanson of Story City, Stephen (Becky) Hermanson of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Roger (Nancy) Hermanson of Story City; two daughters, Sharon (Denny) Sills of Story City and Ruth Schlafke of Jewell; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Daniel Terrill and a sister, Pluma Terrill.

Visitation was held Thursday, May 28 from 5 - 7 p.m. at Bethany Manor in Story City.

Memorials may be made to St. Petri Lutheran Church or Bethany Manor.
