VERNON KREBS

Vernon Clark Krebs, 51, of Nevada, died Monday, June 7, 1982 at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames.

He was born Oct. 26, 1930 in Rockwell City, Iowa, the son of Joseph G. and Vera Clark Krebs. He was a 1948 graduate of Nevada High School.

On July 5, 1952, Mr. Krebs married Beverly Jean French in Nevada. The couple lived in Nevada until March 1956, then in Arizona until 1973 and back to Nevada since. Mr. Krebs was a clerk in central stores at Iowa State University, Ames. He was a member of VFW Post 2209, Nevada, and served as post commander.

Mr. Krebs served in the US Army Infantry in the Korean War, 1950-51, receiving the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was discharged from the Army Reserve in 1953.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly; a son, Derek, of Las Vegas, Nevada; two daughters, Desiree Asklof of Nevada and Debora, at home; his mother, Vera Krebs of Tucson, Ariz.; his grandmother, Violet Clark of Tucson, Ariz.; a brother, David, of Joshua Tree, Calif.; four sisters, Bonnie Fink of Tucson, Ariz., Josina Loomis of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., Carmen Hayes of Lakewood, Calif., and Violet Smith of Cassidy, Kan.; and one grandchild. He was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 10, at 2 p.m. at the Ryan Funeral Home, Nevada, with Pastor Walter Lack officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memory Gardens, Nevada.

The family will be at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m.
