April 23, 1900, to Aug. 19, 1993

Verna Parks, 93, of Nevada, died of pneumonia and complications from surgery Thursday at Mary Greeley Medical Center. A date and time for a memorial service is still pending. Arrangements are being made through Hamilton Funeral Home in Des Moines.

Verna Kuhn was born in rural Fernald to James and Claretta Kuhn, but lived in and around Nevada all her life. Kuhn married Omar Parks in 1941 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, but she was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada. She was living at the long term care center of Story County Hospital in Nevada at the time of her death.

Parks was employed with the Donnelley Corporation for 42 years, until retiring in 1965. She was preceded in death by her husband; her son, Paul; two sisters and a brother.

Immediate survivors include Henry Kuhn, her brother, of Nevada; Marie Lovejoy, her sister, of Boone; and a grandson and great-granddaughter, both of Colorado Springs, Colo.
