Linda Clark, 58, of Ames, died Monday, June 1, 2009. Services are pending with Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames.

THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, June 5, 2009.

Linda L. Clark, 58, of Ames, died peacefully at home Monday, June 1, 2009, after a courageously fought battle with cancer. A private family service will be at a later date.

Linda was born Nov. 30, 1950, in West Bend, Wis., to William Vaughn and Ruth Irene (Soeder) Thompson. She spent her childhood in California.

She had been most recently employed at the Wal-Mart Super Center in Ames.

She is survived by her daughter, Dawn (Del) Amsden and grandsons, Brendan, Alex and Casey, all of Ames; sisters, Dorthy Elsbree, of California, and Mary (Jim) Mess, of Princeton; brothers, Gene (Pat) Thompson, of California, and Rich Thompson, of Arizona; close friend, Barb Clark, who was like a sister, of Des Moines; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society. Cards and letters of condolences and concerns may be sent to Dawn Amsden, 1350 Barkley Court, Ames, IA, 50010.

Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames is assisting her family.
