LOREN EUGENE RIERSON
Loren Eugene Rierson, 59, of RR2, Nevada IA, died Tuesday, May 10, 1988, at 1:30 p.m. at Story County Hospital in Nevada.
Death was apparently due to a heart attack.
Mr. Rierson was born July 27, 1928, at Nevada to Ward Rierson and Mamie Engelson.
He was married to his wife, Kay, on March 15, 1953.
Mr. Rierson had been director of special projects for Triple "F" Products, an agriculture business, since 1966.
He was a veteran, having served in the US Marine Corps.
He was a lifetime resident of Nevada and the Story County area and was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada. He farmed the family farm from 1950 to 1966.
Mr. Rierson was past president of the Story County Conservation Board, former Story County Democratic Party chairman, a founding member of the Nevada Jaycees, and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Nevada. He graduated from Milford High School, near Nevada, with the Class of 1946, and attended Iowa State University in Ames IA.
Survivors include his wife, Kay Rierson of Nevada; one son, Matthew Rierson of Fayetteville NC; two daughters, Sara Rierson of Ft. Collins CO and Mary Rierson of Aurora CO; one brother, Carroll Rierson of Nevada; three sisters, Wanda Kephart of Balboa CA, Mary Amick of Las Vegas NV and Bonny Schoolmeester of Loveland CO.
He was preceded in death by his mother in 1981 and his father in 1982.
Visitation was held at Cooper-Ryan Funeral Home, 5th St. and Lincoln Hwy., Nevada, on Thursday, May 12, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. The family received friends from 7-9 p.m.
